One of two 1950s Neumann U-47 condenser microphones. Like the C12, the U-47 was a staple of great recording studios, until Neumann was purchased by Telefunken. Original U-47s in their original cases sell now for many thousands. Our two were refurbished by what is now Blue Microphones in the 1980s. The rebuild uses the same vacuum tube but improves the sturdiness of the capsule.

Its predecessor, the AKG C12, made from 1953 - 60, was the "holy grail" of microphones in its time. The new, "VR" version uses the same vacuum tube but has a better capsule.
